Conservative approach for herniated disc

I have been diagnosed with a herniated disc for 3 years now. My doctor said that I am a good candidate for a herniated disc surgery. However after reading about the risk involve, such as on this article, http://www.herniateddiscbacksurgery.com/herniated-disc-repair.shtml I am having second thought.

I would like to exhaust all possible options before going for a surgery, so I am wondering if anyone here who had or is having the same condition as me can give some advice.

Any feedback, opinion or advice, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

  • Yes there are many conservative treatments, but the chances of them completely healing you are not good. For a herniated disc Physical therapy, shots, and medications can only do so much.

Almost all surgeons want you to do some conservative treatments before surgery.

Where is your herniated disc located?
