Hi Everyone,

I just happened upon this forum as I have been in the midst of doing a lot of research to try and find a solution to my back pain. I have had pretty severe sciatica for as long as I can remember, and it is starting to impact my day to day activities. I would rather not go to the doctor, but we will see. I look forward to reading and learning from the folks here!

  • hi and welcome to the forum! we are here to offer you support and answer what questions we can.. so glad you dropped in! there are some very good nerve pain medications out now for sciatica which you might want to see a doctor about! i use 300 mg. of Lyrica and it has made a world of difference in my pain level..it can take something as simple as that to make you feel better!! it may be necessary for you to see a doctor if the pain continues... good luck to you! Jenny :)
  • Thanks for the kind welcome Jenny :) I hadn't heard of the Lyrica, I will look into it more. Thanks for the suggestion!
  • Sorry, but NONE of us are medical professionals, and NONE of us can recommend a specific medication - especially if you have not seen a doctor. If you are having the symptoms you describe, a spine specialist might be the way to go - especially if conservative measures are available to help you.

    PCTF C4 - T2, Laminectomies C5, C6 & C7. Severe Palsy left arm/hand.
  • it says right below the statement about the Lyrica that Bern might want to see a doctor about it.. i think that is saying see a doctor about the medication.. i had no idea that making a statement about my medication use and suggestion to Bern was against policy now.. i also state at the end of the post to see a doctor.. You will find a lot of information.
Seeing a doctor will sometimes give you the needed info to make the right decisions for yourself.

I had an EMG and without much feedback from me, doc was able to take readings on what area of my spine was effected and then a plan of action.

Back pain can be relentless or on and off and my pain management doc has proved quite necessary for me..as mine is relentless.

You take care. You're not alone!
