just got back from the Drs and I got GOOD NEWS!!!!! The X-rays show that everything is where it is supposed to be!!!!! I am so happy about this.. He has me finally starting in PT next Thursday to transition out of the back brace and off the walker. I am to start weaning off of the Gabapentin to see how well the nerve is healing start with one pill and if after three days I am still doing good I get to lose another pill and on down the line till they are no more.. Yesterday my Primary care told me I had gained 25 pounds since I saw her last and that was only a month ago.. we both agreed that it was the meds. I am so ready to be on less medicine. Hugs everyone and thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers.

  • What surgery did you have? Wow on the meds! I will not take nerve pain meds due to the weight gain. :jawdrop: . I have been on meds before that made me gain 20 pounds. I am still working on getting that off. Great news though for you! :D
  • I had L5 S1 fusion with hardware but had complications where I had to have two more surgeries after that. This all started in April. And the nerve meds did make me gain 25 pounds so today I asked about changing meds for it and that's when the Dr said let's try weaning off of it. I really hope that I can then that would mean the nerve is healing and not going to be permanent.
  • So happy for you! You were definately overdue for some good news, glad that you got it.

Great that you will be starting PT. I am going to be starting as well, and am looking forward to it.

Hope that your nerve pain stays down as you ween off of the meds. When I first started Lyrica, I too gained about 20 pounds the first month. Luckily it came off after a few months.

May the rest of your recovery be smooth sailing.
