Question About Incision

Hi Everyone,

A month ago I had the screws removed from my lower back fusion done a year ago. The Dr. also did exploratory in the area to check everything out. The biggest problem besides the pain from surgery is the incision site. Now, my incision is twice the size it was before the removal of the screws and it "itches and burns" most of the time. There is also little bumps all along the incision. I see the Dr. next week, but wanted to know if there is anything good I can put on it. I tried cortisone cream, but it didn't work. Thanks

  • It is good that you are seeing your doctor next week.
Generally we are told not to put anything on our incision while it is healing.
Your symptoms sound similar to what I experienced after my surgery when I was having an allergic reaction to the dressing. They gave me antihistimine tablets while still in hospital and I had to continue taking them until the dressing could come off, which was at 6 weeks due to a wound infection.

I had extreme itching and red bumps and blisters.

Do let us know how you get on. I hope you feel better soon. >:D<
