New, Having ACDF on 9/23/11

edited 06/11/2012 - 8:56 AM in New Member Introductions
Hi everyone. My name is Kristen. I'm 28 & have had back problems for a good ten plus years now. I have a herniated disc in my c-spine & am scheduled for ACDF surgery on the 23rd. Here looking for information, support, & anything I can get from everyone. I've read the forums for about a month now & decided to join today because I have a feeling I'm going to need people who have experience in this area to talk/type to in the near future, if not now.

  • Howdy Kristen,

Welcome to Spine Health!!! Sorry you had to come, but too happy that you found one of the best places for understanding and support!!

What level(s) are you having done? 28, bummer pretty young. What started your spine issues so young? Welcome aboard!!!

    PCTF C4 - T2, Laminectomies C5, C6 & C7. Severe Palsy left arm/hand.
  • Thanks! I believe it's c-5 & c-6.... Having a microdiscectomy, cadaver bone, & a plate put in place. I had a severe eating disorder & that put a lot of wear & tear on my body- plus I danced for 13 yrs & have also been in a few mva's.. Think it's a combination of all of the above. I have tried chiropractors, tens units, traction, a steroid injection (had a bad reaction) accupuncture, & medicine with little to no relief. I'm super nervous for surgery Friday but am also hoping it will make things better for me. Care to shed any light on the first few days of recovery? I'm trying to prepare my house, my husband, & my stepkids this week lol
