Hardware removal

Hi, guys....haven't posted since this time last year when I did a trial for a nerve stimulator device (which drove me nuts.) Well, here we are close to *20* facet joint injections later and still have significant pain. Pain MD wants to do a Rhizotomy procedure this week, and if that doesn't work he say's the hardware needs to come out (from L4-S1 fusion in 2008.) So my question is has anyone had their hardware removed and did it relieve any pain??

  • I had my l4l5 fusion hardware removed after having a hardware block to confirm it was causing a lot of pressure in the back of my legs. I was going to have a lami done above the fusion anyways so they took it out during that surgery,

Its helped with some of the pressure but i have nerve damage so because of that i still have nerve pain,

Have them do a hardware block and see how it feels before you have surgery just to remove it,,, Good luck
Flexicore ADR 2004 resulting nerve damage l4l5 Fusion 2006 same level, 2009 hardware removal with lami !
    2012 scs implant ,
  • I have had the hardware block and it relieved a ton of pain...I almost felt 'normal'. I am also trying to decide to have my hardware removed or not. My fusion is also very solid.
