Hi, I'm new here. I've had nerve pain for 10 years and been to doctors in three states, but still I suffer. I'm not exactly sure what caused my pain. I know I have degenerative disc disease, and I also was diagnosed with Lyme Diesease 10 years ago when this all started. At this point, though, for me, it's more about the treatment than the cause. The pain is constant; it stabs, burns and crawls at me. I feel like there's a cat with it's claws out inside me, just scratching, over and over, at the same places on my nerves. My pain is entirely on one side of my body, and affects me from my left eye, all the way down to my left foot. I could easily draw the path the pain follows down that side of my body. I feel like it's stealing my life, and I just want it to go away. The only thing that's given me any relief has been certain narcotics, but all the doctors I've been to don't want to prescribe them to me because I'm too young (51) and they say I'll grow dependant on them. I have even been to one of the country's major hospitals that has a 3-4 week long chronic pain rehab program, where they basically try to teach you to suck up your pain. Easier said than done, that's all I can say. I would gladly go to any doctor in any state who could help me. Any suggestions, please, I'm desperate!!
