Spina Bifida Occulta

I am 20 years old and I was diagnosed with Spina Bifida Occulta about 6 years ago. I have been suffering with lower back pain for as long as I can remember. I have tried everything from Pain Management to Physcial Therapy. Nothing seems to work. I recently had another MRI and all they said they can do is give me pain meds and hope that it helps.

I refuse to be on pain medication for the rest of my life. I am too young to be in this kind of pain. It affects everything from sleeping to even working. I am currently trying to get into the medical feild but how can I begin to work and help others when I hurt so much?. I just hope that somewhere out there there is something to fix this simple disorder.

If anyone can suggest anything I will gladly appreciate it!

  • One thing you could try is going to an interventional physiatrist. They could try to do some injections to try to help with the pain, perhaps some nerve blockers. I hope everything goes well for you
