Epidural Scaring

I have a question for the group. Over the last four years, I have had 8 epidural injections. Due to ongoing disc issues, surgery appears to be in my near future. My question is:

Do epidural injections create scar tissue that will be a hinderance to a surgeon or effect the outcome?

I am reluctant to have any further injections because of this potential.

  • It seems that any invasive procedure can set a patient up for possible scarring, and some people have more issues with scarring than others. I'm one of those unlucky ones that has extensive scarring from all my procedures. I've had many surgeries in general and never had any unusual scarring, so I was blind-sided by the discovery on my MRI at 8 wks postop fusion.

Do read as much as you can on the topic to become well informed, and hopefully you will have more SH members that can tell you about their issues with scarring.

    Good luck,
