Thank you for all your sweet posts. I didn't know where to actually post this, but I went to my former surgeon in Dallas, TX. He looked at my MRI and CatScan and said surgery/fusion is the only thing he can do for my pain. I already had T11,12 and L1,2 fused in 05. That fusion was a success and I have no pain in that area. He is fusing L2,3 and L3,4. He said that he doesn't want to fuse any more than that as my mobility would be limited. He said I have no disk at all between L3/4; thus, my vertebrae show bruising and inflammation.
I am excited to think this horrific pain may be lessened. His first date free is Dec. 13th. He stated they will go in from my side (less invasive) and attach to my other rod system. It is a new Methodist hospital that only does surgeries in Addison, TX near Dallas. My hubby asked how long the fusions/equipment could last and he said up to 20 yrs. I am 57, so that is welcome news!
Has anyone had this new less invasive spinal fusion from the side? His nurse told me they use cadaver or artifical fusion materials for the disk instead of from my hip like last time.
Again, thank you for your replies. This is a WONDERFUL forum.
Hugs from Texas!
