I'm a 31 year old female commercial/industrial wireman (electrician) and have been doing it for 6 years . Before that , I was a heating and a/c technician for 5 years . I rode bulls for 10 yrs ( 13-23 ) and as we all know , you get what you pay for . I'm not telling all of you this to brag , just trying to get in all the info . Last job I was at I had to quit because my back ( sciatic/hip/grion ) area got so bad I would take one step and out of the blue , I was lifted off the job and back to the house I was staying at . I was working 8 hours away from home . I have flat feet , I have fractured my L3 ( years ago) . I have dealt with , I guess sciatica , since I was 6 years old . I say this because I would wake up screaming as a child that my legs hurt . My mom took me to numerous doctors with diagnoses such as , growing pains , calcium difficiency , muscle cramps etc. The same pains have troubled me my whole life , and continue to get worse . I went to my a specialalist almost a month ago who took x-rays of my lower back , and also an mri...nothing found . He finally told me that he needed another doctors opinion , saw him , he did an mri of my pelvic and an x-ray . Went back in today , doc said he found nothing except that my canal was signifigantly smaller than normal peolpe . He said he would talk to a spine specialist , but in the mean time , I should do PT . I'm currently taking Etodolac . I'm frusterated because I don't like to sit around , but I'm at the point that it's almost all I can do to get up and hang the laundry . I have knife stabbing pain going from by the top of my buttocks , down my sciatic , through my hips , into my knees and ankles . I've had this before , but it usually relents in a few days . I'm now starting to get spasms in my hips , and have to wake up at least every half hour to switch positions when I'm sleeping . My muscles around my hips are very sore when I wake up . The last doctor I saw was a hip specialist . I'm sorry this is so long , I just wanted to try to get in all the facts I could . Any information would be great !

  • Sorry to hear you're having so much pain right now and have to work in pain. Did your L3 fracture heal correctly? I hope the Physiotherapy and meds will help and hope you get in to see a Orthopedic surgeon or Neurosurgeon soon to get a treatment plan.

When I had sciatica and numbness my Dr. sent me for an EMG/nerve test to see what's causing the numbness and if it was coming from the back.

This is a great place for support so welcome here. Charry

  • Thanks for listening . I know I'm shouldn't even complain after reading so many others difficulties , but it's just tough to not be able to tie your shoes or any other simple everyday activity as I'm sure everyone up here knows . I'd rather go through breaking my jaw again , than to deal with this . PT starts monday , we'll see how it goes .
