Hello My name is Grace 3 years ago I had a van crash into me from behind and my life was never the same what doctors thought was whiplash turned into 2 herinated discs which needed 3 opertations and 7 epidurals and all kinds of medication from codine to morphine in between the first operation and the 2nd within the same year 2009 I was taken into hospital for pain control there they gave me yet another MRI scan I was so druged up I fell asleep in the scanner

My life is never going to be the same I show one face to everyone but when i am alone I cry with the pain and the things I can not do I can not walk more than 15 steps I can not stand for more than 60 seconds I try not to let it get me down and I am not having silly thoughts such as taking my life but I am getting a little depressed about it I worry about my husband will he leave me when or if it gets worse to get close to him physically is very hard for me as I know the pain levels will go up I smile until my face hurts while he is home I know he knows how bad I am my consultant as told me its not going to get better and that i am rare as this type of operation always works but not with me

I need to replace all my negative thoughts with positive I need to find someone I can talk to a friend

Thank you for listening xx

And welcome to spine health. I have lumbar issues and you cervical. And there are plenty of "neckies" on the forums.
But in life's struggles we're all in the same boat.
    Hang in there girl!
    Good Luck, Jim

You get what you get, not what you deserve......I stole that from Susan (rip)
Today is yours to embrace........ for tomorrow, who knows what might be starring you in the face!
  • Welcome to Spine-Health. It's nice to have you here, although I hate to hear about your spine issues, but you'll find a lot of support and friendship here.

I've had surgery on both my cervical and lumbar spine, but my cervical is the worst. I had a 3-lvl ACDF that I believe is what you'd call a success, but I went in for an MRI last June and the C2/3 and 3/4 (just above my fusion) aren't very happy. Bad facet joints, stenosis and a new bone spur in the middle of my fusion at C5/6.

Although I'm positive I'm not in as much pain as you are, I do understand and sympathize. We all get down and at times don't think we can keep facing it for all the fears and stress that comes with spine problems. But hopefully making friends here and finding the support that only another spiney can give and understand will help you. It's helped many, many members.

Just so you know, those that have successful surgeries generally leave the forums and go out to live a normal life, no longer needing the support given here. So mostly it's the ones still in pain that hang around the forums, although some stay just for the fun. :-)

    Take care and keep posting!
