The presents are all wrapped, the kids will be here Saturday, family Christmas party on Sunday, and surgery on Monday.....did I leave anything out?

soft foods.......check
comfy clothes....check
pain meds........check
contact #s.......check
books & mags.....check
walking plan.....check
people to help...check
extra pillows....check

I think I have got everything ready and I have this web site to thank for that. Without all of you I would have probably been super crazy by now. I am getting a bit more nervous and scared now, but that is only natural. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.

  • I haven't had cervical surgery yet, but I have read a lot about the recovery afterwards.

    From my reading, I believe that the following things will also be useful;

grabber (to pick things up and reach things)
    bendy straws
    throat lozenges
    dry shampoo

I also had bath suction handle for my lumbar surgery that was wonderful, and I still use it now
    slip on shoes

I wish you a successful surgery and a smooth recovery. Let us know how you get on.

  • Sounds like your all ready, good job and I am sure lots of work. Don't forget the button up's vs pull on's. Good luck on surgery Monday and enjoy your family and christmas first. Not to mention that will make the time pass and lesson the stress of the waiting. If your really nervous when you arrive at the hospital you can ask them for something to calm you down, but usually that piece goes so fast, you don't have time to think. Good luck and post back when you can.
  • Jellyhall, thanks for the additional items list. Picking up the grabber on sunday, have bendy straws, hard candy (mediciney stuff makes me sick!!!), laxatives don't work, got prunes, hope they will, got numerous styles of slip on shoes (shoe collector), and no dry shampoo. I am hoping to be able to shower by myself or with minimal assistance if necessary. What is a bath suction handle? Is it like a grab bar?
