I am officially 3 weeks 3 days post ACDF surgery c6/7. Just today I started to get a sharp pain on the back left side of my neck that was never there before, even prior to surgery.

I did begin taking my collar off at home and today drove for the first time. COuld it just be muscle pain from things being used for the first time since surgery?

I am worried cause I was doing so well.

  • and it comes and goes, its not constant
  • Its still early in your surgery so might be nothing. As long as it dont continue to get worse hopefuly its just part of the healing.

But worth asking your dr if you think its more serious. There are many pain symptoms we all get after surgery that we never felt before usualy,

    Best wishes with your recovery,

  • After my ACDF I got a lot of weird pains. Most of my pain was left sided pre op, I got a lot of pain on my right side that mimicked the pain I had pre op. Also burning muscle spasms were common. Take it easy with your neck at this point!

If you are unsure you can always contact your surgeon with questions. I encourage you to do so.
