Has anyone felt the same buttock pain after surgery?

Well, it's been 2 weeks now since I had 'revision' fusion surgery. 3 screws were replaced and a stabilising rod inserted. However, my right buttock pain is still there and it's most uncomfortable.

I know it's early days and the clips are being removed tomorrow - so hopefully it will be more comfy after that, but this buttock pain is a bit concerning. It sometimes feels very hot and itchy but it's weird - like someone is sticking a pin into my right buttock (inside of it). It feels more prominent when I'm laying down.

The hospital phoned me this morning for my 2-week telephone consultation and I mentioned it. The nurse said that because this is my 4th operation, it may take even longer for the pain to settle down because of increased scar tissue and 'fiddling' inside by the surgeon - which I understand.

I'm hoping that my SI joint isn't involved (like the surgeon thought it could be and decided to change the screws in the hope that this much smaller procedure would 'do the trick' first, as evidently one of the screws was at the wrong angle). Anyway, I suppose time will tell and I hope I'm worrying unnecessarily!

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this painful sensation after spinal surgery - how long did you have it for and was it just part of the healing process?

I'd be interested to read your comments. Thank you.
