Any problem with using heat after ACDF?

Too late to reach my dr's office so I'm hoping someone here will know -- Had 2-level ACDF one week ago, and worst pain is just realy bad tension in shoulders.

I'd like to use a heat pad across my shoulders and lower back of neck (I'm taking muscle relaxants but they're just not enough plus they make me so so out of it) but I don't want to do that if it could cause a problem.

I don't see anything about it on the post-surgical instructions from my doc.

  • no clue if the doc would say yes or no, but i've been using a heating pad on a regular basis post acdf.i had a 2 level done in september, and i've been using the heating pad on and off for a while now. i also go to pt these days and they do heat and stim. i don't remember how soon after the surgery i started back with the heating pad. it couldn't have been more than a couple of weeks at most. could have been as soon as a week.
