Hip pain after MicroD

Hey Gang,

Been creeping the board for several years. Actually became a member last year but am not much of a poster. I get a ton of support from simply reading and relating to everyone on the board.

Recently had third micro d. Long story short, had first one 7 years ago. Had a re-herniation last January and then again in October. Am very familiar with the pain fron surgery and the recovery process. Last two surgeries I felt instant relief other than surgical pain. Getting relief from scaitic pain is a god send. This time, have had some pins and needles in calf which I can deal with as they go away after some walking and moving. Consider surgery a success in that it has relieved the severe sciatic pain, foot drop, leg numbness I was experiencing. My main issue, which is different from the other two recoveries is pain in my hip. It is non-existent while lying and about a 1/10 walking. Sitting, however, is another story. If I sit for more than five minutes the pain slowly builds to where it is unbearable. Walking or lying down will help alleviate pain but takes a while to get back under control. Am a high school principal, so while I can walk quite a bit at work, there are times where I must be able to sit for extended period of time. Have been working half days three weeks after surgery.

Medication equals Tylenol 3(have reduced to 2 a day), and Ibubrofen.

My question would be has anyone else experienced this type of hip pain after micro d. Looking forward to hearing from everyone.

  • Well, I am three weeks post micro and still have bad hip pain and low back pain. Manageable with meds but pretty sore after working half days. Hope this goes away!
