L1-2 anyone else?

I can't believe I am back in this position. In August 2010 underwent fusion of L3-S1 after having 2 previously diskectomies in August 2009 and January 2010. They used flexible rods at L3-L4 to allow some movement with goal of protecting against adajent disk disease. For the 15 months I have felt wonderful! With the exception of some moderate aching with over exertion, I had no problems. I hadn't felt so good in over 8 years.

Then my luck ran out! About 2 months ago I started getting pain again in my back, thighs and groin. Had MRI and good news is the soft stabilization is working from keeping L2-L3 with minimal disease and herniation. however, L1-L2 has large herniation encroaching the spinal cord. Symptoms are progressing everyday with weakness, tingling, and pain. They are talking about fusing the L1 down now. I have so many thoughts racing through my head. I know I don't have an option due to the size of hernia and location of it, but still very skeptical. I recovered so well from the first one and can only hope I get the same results.

They are talking about doing an XLIF. The last time I had TLIF. Has anyone had this or has anyone else had the herniation at L1-L2? Any info would be great!
