I have gotten the new rollator walker. I don't feel as comfortable as I expected to when I used it. It will be a big help if I go somewhere that I will need to sit when I need to.
I called my Primary Cares office and told them that I needed to go up 2 Vicodin a day. I explained that I was not able to function on the dose she prescribed. I got a call from her office a couple of days later stating that she will only give me a minimal amount and made an appointment for me with a Physiatrist 2 days later.
Meanwhile, my husband was still in the hospital and I was having a very hard time coping with the pain on top of everything else. I am now responsible for changing all of his dressings and packing the wound. His blood pressure is running dangerously high and has me worried sick. He was released Thursday.
I met the Physiatrist Friday morning. I liked her and she agreed that I probably do need to stay at the 6 Vicodin a day for now. Then she started telling me about the contract I had to sign about Dr. shopping. She also wants me to start PT asap and take a drug test. I don't have a problem with it. I admit that I smoke once in a while and I was upfront about it. When I went to the lab for the test, I was not able to produce enough urine. I had just used the bathroom before I came. I asked if I could come back later and they said ok. As it turned out, the VNA was coming to the house when I got home. Paul's blood pressure has been running 200/90 and higher. I just didn't feel comfortable leaving and was very stressed out. I will need to go back in the morning and try to take the test.
The Physiatrist is also ordering a new MRI of the lumbar spine. I am relieved because there is definitely something wrong. Still having a lot of pain just standing. So, after the MRI and drug test, she will start writing my scripts. I am now 8 weeks post op.
The only other issue I have is that I can not afford to pay all of these copays. I am in therapy and also have to see the Psychiatrist who prescribes my meds. She's expecting 2x's a week. Right there it comes to about $150.00 just for office copays not including scripts. We are both depending on Social Security alone. I had to borrow money just to get the Antibiotics for my husband and money to pay the copay for Physiatrist. He still has other blood pressure scripts we need to fill and don't have the money.
I feel sick to my stomach and afraid to sleep. I am afraid of what I will wake up to. I have to keep an eye on my husband for a stroke or heart attack. I am packing and changing his dressings where his toes were removed. I am constantly jumping through hoops and getting more stressed every day.
