I am a now retired nurse, due to a fall from a ladder 5/08. I fx C3,4,5,T5 and L4,5,6 spinous processess,Left ribs 7,8,9 and dislocation and fx of L humeral head. Had central cord syndrome from C4 cord compression.

I have had C4-5 fusion 7-08, which resolved the cord syndrome and have no remaining paralysis in the upper extremities.

I still have problems with the T5 fracture, and nerve injury. With the L shoulder, which my ortho doc recommends a total joint replacement, I have pain 2-3 at rest, 5-6 with any extended attempts at doing chores, shopping etc. :?

I take Ultram prn for pain, usually 100mg a day. I also have started pool walking, and lyengar yoga, which have enabled to stop taking Percocet and Oxycontin. =D>

Thanks already! Dee :H

  • Hi Dee :H .

Welcome to our "Spiney Family" ! Glad you found us, but sorry to read you've been through so much. This is a wonderful website with lots of super people. We are here to listen to and support you. We listen to the good and the not-so-good. If you have any questions and cannot find your answer in the web search, we would be happy to give you a hand (so to speak :D ).

My issues are all cervical, but pain is pain no matter where the body experiences it. You have so many different places affected, you must be absolutely miserable ~X( . I am on a schedule of both pain meds and muscle relaxer tid q 8 hrs with Vicodin ES for break-through pain. Would some kind of scheduled med/s be something that would work for you? Do you expect any more procedures to help alleviate your pain? I sure hope you get relief soon. Let us know how you get along, please. Keeping you in my thoughts
