Hi. I was just informed that I am going to have a microforaminotomy for my pinched nerve I have been suffering with since November 2005. Can anyone tell me how it went and what recovery was like please? Thanks a bunch. M

  • I was on youtube two nights ago watching this procedure. It's actually under "microdiscectomy" videos, but the foraminotomy is in them.
They use a small drill with a "burr" at the end of it. This burr bit rotates and grinds away bone.
They also use these chomping pliers that "bite" small chunks out of the bone.
