I am 68 and had lower back pain for over 20 yrs due to DDD and arthritis (slight bulges at L4 and L5. Had had several MRIs over the years, the latest 2 weeks ago. I have been under chiropractic care for over 15 years using all kind of manipulative and machine treatment such as activators and decompression equipments. For the last 6 mos I have been in decompression treatment at a chiropractor and was not doing too bad until 4 weeks ago, I got terrible pain in my hip shooting down my leg to my knee. My GP used a whole bunch of remedies with no avail even Vicodin would not calm down my pain and burning sensation. Got MRI and showed disc issues at L3-L4: bulging, rupture disc...Went to spine dr and said I have to have disctectomy (micro)but in meantime he could try cortisone injection which he did immediately at L3-L4. I am feeling a bit better but not much hopeful from what I read I can tell I will need the surgery. My main question:
Could the decompression therapy have caused this disc to rupture? Could it also be using my interferrential machine? Anyone with my experience, please tallk to me.
