post microdisectomy and muscle spasms

So, I had a discectomy of my l5/s1 on april 5, 2012. I probably have done more than I should have after surgery but I was fine up until Monday after. Tuesday morning I woke up and could barely walk without crying in pain. It was in my lower back and hip. Then when I walked, I had to lean to the left which caused the back muscles on my right up my back to seize up and be in pain.

I contacted my doctor thinking I may have re-herniated it and he feels like it is just muscle spasms since I am having no issues with my leg with the pain. So, he prescribed me Valium. I have yet to see if it works because as of right now, I only took 4mg about 2 hours ago from this post. I do feel better since I have stayed down but there is still this sharp pain in one part of my lower right back.

Has anyone else experienced this? The pain I am feeling is worse than before the surgery. I was able to do "more" then than I am now.

Thanks for reading.....
