Back Surgery

I am 'suffering' from spondylolisthesis @ L4/5 and severe arthritis in low back. Have tried everything from ice, heat, acupuncture, chiro, deep tissue massage, physical therapy, injections (5 since 7/5/11), to walking, swimming, and exercise therapy.
Severe limitations on movement. Can't even turn over in bed w/o sitting up first.
I saw my surgeon this week and asked my 2+ pages of questions. I will be getting a 2nd opinion this next week and all things being equal will have surgery in about a month with first surgeon.
Need is fusion of L4/5 and clean up some of the arthritis. I will be getting my own bone for the fusion.
I live alone and with kids in Navy and nursing school far away will go to rehab until I can come home and function completely on my own (hopefully no more that 1 week or so out of hospital).
Thanks in advance everyone! Glad to be part of the forum!

  • Sounds like you have exausted all other means of treatments and the second opinion is excellent. I wish I would have done the same. Best of luck and please keep us updated.
