I had an ACDF 2 weeks ago and still have the shoulder pain - same as before. Has anyone else experienced this? Why? Anyone?

  • Hi karenk, I had 3 level ACDF almost 9 months ago and still have shoulder pain, especially if I have done too much. It has got better. If I do the stretches I was taught in PT then it is not too bad. I also found that an ice pack across by shoulder helped. I will sit down with my sore arm laying on a pillow on top of the recliner chair arms. The ice, elevation, ice and vicodin for me works pretty good. Hope you start feeling better!
  • Thanks for your reply. Is yours the same as it was before surgery? Mine is.... If I'm at rest it gets better, but if I use my arms - dishes, pushing a grocery cart, stuff like that - it ramps up....? I don't know if this is normal or if I should be concerned....
