just got word, unofficially, that i have qualified to retire on medical grounds. yay me! from STD, to LTD, to Federal Disability, to medical retirement, it's been a long haul. i just feel like crying. not because i'm sad, but because the process has been so stressful for so long ... 4 years. hang in there everyone, things do get better. i know it's easy for me to say ... but i get it, i've been where some of you are now along this continuum. keep pluggin' away ....

  • I know how emotional the trip is, a long haul with lots of pain combined. I wish you all the best, and it seems to be very good news , less worries at least. Best wishes
  • Please excuse my ignorance...what is medical retirement? I have worked in the transportation industry for 26 years and 10 weeks ago had TLIF that is taking forever to heal. I am starting to fear I may never be able to ait long enough to ever return to work. I am only 44.
