I have had problems with neck and back for 8 years I've been diagnosed with about 8 different things I didn't get surgeries done right away and then my insurance expired. Had NO IDEA how hard it was going to be taking care of pre-existing conditions with new insurance. I went in rushed to the ER for my ACDF because the concern of permanent nerve damage. The Neuro did my surgery not long after ER admittance and MRI's. Which I'm very thankful for. He's not the one administering meds now after a week I went to pain management dr. How long is the normal amount of time for being on pain meds after an ACDF with Autograph ?

  • Hi I had my ACDF in Jan 09. I at first was on the pain meds I was sent home on. After a while I didn't need them so I flushed them. Wasn't until like almost a year ago that I had to start taking them again. I have developed spinal compression also call stenosis. I believe the need for pain meds is all up to the person on if they need them or not. If after a while u think u can go without them try to and see if u really can handle it, that is the only way u will know if u can or can't. Hope this helped some u can PM me if u ever want to talk.
