good afternoon all,
I had my visit with my neurologist yesterday and found out that my mri on my brain was clear! Yay,=D> So the question then became why is my spine contracting and my legs twisting and my arms contracting. She had me walk for her for a few minutes to give her an idea of how bad my walking gets and she said when i was finished that it looks like i have dystonia caused from the spinal cord injury i suffered, apparently she said that the type of injury that i had in my cervical spine was very much like having a stroke and she said that people with trauma injuries and stroke victims sometimes develope dystonia.
She took me off the cymbalta because it wasn't helping me at all and is slowly increasing my muscle relaxant X3. She is also sending me to another neurologist out of town who specializes in movement disorders to evaluate me and try and find something to help me. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of medications that help dystonia. She told not to over stress my muscles because that will make the dystonia worse, but to try and find some type of mild exercise to do to keep me strong. She also suggested some water therapy exercise. I already have my apt. with the specialist but it isn't until Jan. 2013. So i have to summer to get through before i will get any kind of help.
