Hello everyone, I found your site when I was looking us the crazy "medical" wording from my MRI. I am a 36 year old Female. Married with two children 8 and 5. I am a stay at home Mom who plans to homeschool. I am pretty active and "normal"
Migraines are what started this whole thing. I had a few during puperty. Then a few more in my 20's but nothing like what I started to experience 3 years ago. It would start with pain in my shoulders, neck and move up into one side of my head and temple. It would put me in bed crying for 2 days, vomiting if I moved, and deydration. Went to PC doctor and was given flexeril. Things got better. A few months would go by and I would have another "attack". Flexeril or Tramadol were given. They would help. Somewhere in here I lost feeling in my Left Arm for over 2 months!! And I still have Left sided weakness. I would get a massage. Used heat and ice and creams for pain.
Needed sleep meds because my sleep patterns were so messed up from sleeping all day and being awake and in pain all night. On anti depressant - Zoloft 100 mg for 4 years now. Finally, Dec 2011, I had a migraine, January another, two weeks later another , soon it was every week I had a Migraine that was worse than the last. My Pc doctor gave me Imitrex and a referral to a Neorologist.
Here are the MRI results (I'm only listing the "bad" things:
Moderate antlantoaxial osteoarthritis
Multi level degenerative disc desiccation
C5-6 Moderate loss of disc height and volume
C3-4 Left uncinate process hypertrophy with minimal left neural foramen narrowing
C4-5 Spondylitic ridging without cord contact or canal stenosis. Left uncinate process hypertrophy causing moderate left forminal stenosis.
C5-6 Spondylitic ridging without cord contact or canal stenosis. Uncinate process hypertrophy causing Severe left neual foramen stenosis.
C6-7 Cental disc profussion without cord contact, canal stenosis or cord compression. No nerve root compromise is demonstrated. Left uncinate process hypertrophy causing mild left forminal stenosis.
Multilevel degenerative dics disease and spondylitic ridging.
Uncinate process hypertrophy causing multilevel foranimal stenosis of varying degrees.
C6-7 small central disc profussion without cord contact, canal stenosis, cord compression or nerve root compromise.
Cervical cord unremarkable.
So there it is, some of it I understand...my neck is messed up! My Neurologist just kindof looked shocked at my MRI results and after explaining my nerve is being pinched (duh I have been saying that for 2 years) he offered a Neuo surgeon and pain management. He had given me at my fisrt appt Tizinadine and refilled that and included Gabapentin.
Yesterday and today I have had migraines (something I have not really had since Mid-March) I have also been in more Left shoulder/neck/upper back pain. Part of my thinks it is psychosomatic because of reading up on how bad my neck is.
So I am a scared new member and I hope to find some answers, get some perspective and understand more about what is happening to my body. Do I see the Neuro Surgeon? Is that who will answer all of the questions I have? And can I just expect the pain to get worse? I'm only 36 and can not imagine this continuing but then I realize it will.
Thanks to everyone here and your help
