debilitating pain in back of head

i am really struggling with my head pain today, this pain at back of head above neck was there before my op and for me was the worst symptom to deal with, immediately post op the pain was gone and i was so grateful and could think straight again, but it has gradually built back up and today it goes from the back of my head through to pushing the back of my eyes so that even my eyes ache! it is there all the time, it doesnt go, this is the worst it has been and i just want to close my eyes and stop thinking! all suggestions gratefully received.... is this other peoples experience at 9 weeks post op?

  • Oh no,

Thats awful.I haven't had my surgery yet so sorry I can't offer suggestions but I hope you get some relief from that. Are you able to ask your neurosurgeons office if that's normal?

  • Do you have a collar? I think that I have read that some others with this problem have found that wearing their collar gives some relief. If you don't have one, could you phone and ask the hospital if you could have one to wear when you get this pain. I do hope that you find something that will relieve the pain.

Perhaps it would be worth trying ice or heat. I haven't had surgery, but do find that a massage of my neck helps when I get these awful headaches. I wish I had something more useful to say.

    Gentle hugs.
