Left hip sciatic pain two weeks after spinal fusion

Hello all,

I hope someone can help me. I'm recovering from spinal fusion surgery but after two weeks I started to get a lot of pain in my left hip. Seems like a sciatic pain but I didn't have this pain before the surgery. All the other pain I had before surgery is gone - which is great! However, this new pain is really bad and I'm hoping and praying it's just my body adjusting etc as it heals.

Has anyone else had this kind of pain or something similar? Is it just part of the healing process and will it go away? Or, does it sound like I've just replaced one problem for another? :-(

  • Kimberly,
First let me say you are very early in the recovery process. Pains will come and pains will go. Hopefully, this is what you are going through right now. You mentioned your left hip. In my fusion, a piece of my left hip bone was used as part of my fusion and let me tell you my hip was sore for weeks.
