New Pain in neck..

Hi. I am Rhonda and have been involved mostly in the low back pain forums. After over 20 + years with low back pain.... I have had 2 back surgeries for ruptured discs and spinal stenosis. I have Failed Back Surg. Syndrome, Lumbar stenosis, DDD, Osteoarthritis in rt. knee/rt. shoulder/rt. hip..also suffer with Type 2 Diabetes, and High Blood Pressure... in the past few months I have been having trouble in my neck.. when I turn it I hear and feel it "catching", "popping", and "cracking". It also is starting to hurt in back of neck up through my head... I just started with a new PM Dr. and haven't been able to talk to him about it... but I will....

  • In the neck forums we have a old saying if snap, crackle, pop hurts then you need to see your doctor about it. Having cracking in your neck is not normal. There is a old post on the forums that a member had gone to great detail to explain what is going on. Unfortunately I have no Idea where that is. At the very least they need to take some x-rays. Of course having it crack alone is not as bad, but the radiculopathy or neurological deficits would be of more concern. The fact you started a new pm doctor, does change things a little as you don't want them to think your a hypochondriac, so maybe you should see your primary care doctor. With new doctors it does take sometime to build a relationship with the doctors. But even worse you don't want them to think your looking for stronger meds. However you can approach it anyway you would like, I just always fear those issues, as once you get a label, it is very hard to loose it. Now if on the intake forms you listed pain in your neck then maybe you should tell them about it, on your next appointment.
