severe itching

Please anyone who can answer this question please do so! I have severe itching, nerve itch all over my body that comes and goes or should i say when the pain is gone it seems to switch to an intense itch. What is this and how do i get rid of it. Everyone that i've seen and talked to so far has no idea what its from or how to get rid of it. I've talked to my PM,my physical therapist, my massage therapist,my naturopath, osteopath and pain specialist. They all say that they've never had anyone with that problem. My massage therapist said it sounded like the fascia was getting too tight and everyone else says they think its a neurological problem. I don't see the neurologist until the end of January. I seem to be able to handle the pain much better then the itching sensation. I know that itching can be a symptom of nerve damage but i've never heard of anyone having system wide nerve itch before. So please if anyone has any thoughts at all please comment.

  • What are you taking for pain meds? Opiates commonly cause an all-over itch.
    3 level spinal fusion, L3/4, L4/5, L5/S1, November 2008. Stiff, but I can walk.
  • no opiates in my pain regimen. I take nerve pain medication, gabapentin, but i've been on it for about six years now with no problems ,i also take a thyroid medication,my thyroid numbers were just checked and they said were perfectly in range. I take four muscle relaxants a day for dystonia and apparently none of these interact with each other so i'm told from the pharmacy.
