Insurance Approval-How Long

I would just like to get an idea of how long those of you who already have SCS had to wait for insurance approval. I have BCBS insurance. I'm so ready to have the trial and surgery and trying to get an idea of how long I might have to wait? Thanks everyone for your responses to my other threads and for all your posts on SCS, it has been so helpful to me so thank you!

  • I have Anthem insurance and it took no time for them to respond. About a week after they submitted it I got a letter saying they need more info withing 45 days, then, three days later I got one saying the trial was approved and the implant, as long as the trial was successful.

I figured it would take longer, but its taking longer to get an appointment for the trial then anything.

Hopefully yours will come just as quickly!
  • Thanks Mel! That's good news and much less time than I thought. Awesome news!
  • I got a letter yesterday saying they needed more info, so I'm supposing that is standard practice? I'll be on pins and needles till I get one that says I'm approved. Cross your fingers for me?
  • Just had my psych eval today and everything went great. Also talked to my DRs office and they said that's all the insurance was waiting on. Should get an approval by the end of the week she said!

Yep, that's how mine went too :-) they had me do the psych eval first, before submitting it to insurance. You should hear something soon!

Yes I'm hoping! Mel, the nurse I talked to yesterday said they were aiming for the last week in October for the trial and two weeks after for the surgery. So it looks like you and I will have close to the same schedule.
