Leg pain

Hi, new to this forum but I would like to get anyone's advice.
I do have a herniated disc for about 20 years. I was a stay at home mom for nine years. Decided to go back to work. I'm working at our school cafeteria. So I am on my feet 7 hours a day, I am slightly overweight and after a few weeks of work I started getting pain/numbness down my left leg. I also should mention that I have varicose veins in the same leg that I'm feeling the pain in.
I have looked up sciatica and I'm thinking that's what I might have. Only problem I have is that my "pain" is more like a pulling feeling going down my leg. If I'm standing and lug my leg up I get that pulling pain sensation. I haven't noticed anyone else describe that as pain. I also have numbness and pain in one area on my front thigh but upper part of the knee cap.

Does this sound like sciatica?

Thanks for anyone's advice

  • Yep, sure sounds like sciatica to me. It seems that it can be different for everyone. I can relate to the "pulling" feeling. What I have been told is that your hamstring & calf tighten up in reaction to the injury in your back. I am almost 7 weeks post-op L5S1 microD, and that is what I am still dealing with the most is that tightness in the leg. The muscles havent adapted yet.

You should see a doctor before it gets worse.

    Good Luck!
L5S1 REMOVED herniation. Years of pain & compression. Microdiscectomy complete!! Trying to be super smart & safe with recovery!
