Flexicore Disc

I too had the Flexicore implant in 2005, followed all the rules and then they cancel the study and send you a card and want you to be on your way. I also have had a complication since day one they say "I am so small and disc was too big" now permanent nerve damage in right leg and foot. I also have been suffering from severe back pain and I believe something is wrong with the area that the disc is in. I actually had a lawyer contact me today after I sent a brief inquiry. I am hoping this can be a prodcut liablility claim, as I believe is similar to the recent lawsuits with Stryker for the hip implant, metal on metal. I think the material is very similar. I am waiting to here back from a law firm in my area (SF) if anyone else is interested maybe we can get a few of us who suffer everyday to get some medical help we so desperately need.

  • Same here flexicore disc was implanted 2004 l4l5 clinical trial , Resulted nerve damage nerve pain going down left leg which never resolved ! Another dr recomended we fuse it to see if nerve will heal but it never did,

Anyone i had found with flexicore disc here seems nobody had good results for some reason or another,
Its posible class action lawsuit should of been done as with other products but lawyer i talked to could not do anything for my after damage caused by flexicore implant! Unless it was way too early to find out all the outcomes of people who had this flexicore implant done,

I had spine stimulater implanted 2012 and that dont help either,

Let us know what lawyer tells you and posible can pass it along as 1 other member here has same issues as well Michelle who is a member of spine health,
If she sees this post about flexicore i am sure she will chime in ,

I think problems were flexicore only came in 2 sizes and should of never been forced in place if it was not a perfect fit causing over streching the nerves is what 1 specialist told me but of course they wont put it in writing as even the medical field they cover for other medical doctors !
This is nothing new in this day and age sadly,

  • Seem's to be lots of problems with what was surposed a perfect fix to a major problem with disc replacement surgery. Have tried to live with the pain for years, and don't know how much longer I can. Insurance company wants to cut med's, Doctor's take pictures and say all looks good, don't really care and pain is constent. The only bit of relieve is floating in water where there is absolutly no pressure on my spine. The pain impacts every aspect of daily living. Stryker doesn't care about the recipients of their products. Just bottom line. The study was actully done along side nine other MFG's, and only two where cleared for use by the FDA . Stryker was 2nd from the bottom in the list. Google clinical studys through .gov and you can see the results. The only two MFG's that were cleared have a product that has a gell or rubber like ring around the implant similar to your natural disc's. Makes sense right. Wish my Doctor would have told me about other procedures available. But if their in bed with Stryker, that's who they suggest. I feel for all the people that live in pain every minute of every day as I do based on trusting a Doctor and what MFG (Stryker) gives them the most perks.

Dammit , I texted alot too . Guess I hit delete instead of enter ...oops . Ok short version yes same here two big implant resulting in nerve damage , no further surgeries but I'm starting to have intermittent motor problems in leg and a few bouts of incontinence that were unexpected with no rhyme nor reason . However seems to happen more when inflamed and not managed with scores of Meds I use and tens and same crap everyone else uses . Might have to get ct myelogram to see why . It's hard to find anything on this study but what I have read just sucks because if true sounds like we are screwed . I try to look for positives outside of my pain issues and adjust accordingly to keep me out of the dark side . But I know if I do go there , my bro Alex will be waiting on me with a Darth Vader mask and two light sabers to play lol

I had the disc installed, I was the fourth person that Dr.EDIT .I have had no bad effects as of now, other then the nerve damage that I had before the implant.
I am very interested in keeping up on what is going on with the other test cases.
Is anyone else having fairly good results ??

  • Hey Everyone,

Has anyone had any luck with getting an attorney? I had the flexicore implanted in 8/2004 and had great results from it. However, now I have a huge amount of arthritis built up and they cannot remove the device without potentially killing me from moving the artery in front of my spine. I was told that Stryker would cover any issues with the device. But, no one told me that stenosis/arthritis would result. I was 100%, and even have a letter from the doctor releasing me to join the Army as an officer. Now I'm screwed. I don't want to sue, but I don't want to go broke. I'm kind of thinking it would have been better to have received the fusion in the trial :( If anyone has any luck with hiring an attorney, I would love the opportunity to speak with them also.

  • I had disk replacement surgery in 2004 now I'm 32 And screwed up for life. I have needed more surgery but haven't been able too have it BC of financial constraints. I have not heard anything good about this procedure. I live and had my surgery in palm beach gardens Florida with one off the best surgeons in the country "supposedly" I am still I'm horrible pain on a lot of pain meds and nerve damage meds. I recently had a seizure BC of the medication. My whole spine is messed up and I found out about 1 year ago from 2 different surgeons that I should have never been a candidate for the flexicore replacement. I have severe spinal stenosis, arthritis, RLS, facet join defecits. I'm angry, frustrated and in a lot of pain. I'm a veterinary technician and I physically kill myself everyday and I can't just not work so I have to live with pain . this sux. And Im sure I signed paper work for the trial study stating I can not sue. If anybody has any advice please let me know.

Hi everyone Iam the first one to have this done across the country out of the 400 in case study had it done in Indianapolis Doc [EDIT] This was done in 2004 I retired In 2005 and it was a prayer answered to my back pain. Now live in Tn. and yes the case was closed money and insurance issues caused that to happen. We don't know all the problems this will cause us in the long run and there may be a class action down the road who knows. So far so good on my end retiring early has helped my story Iam sure less wear and tear helped.
