I am so happy I found this site, I have had back problems since I was 16 where at least once a year my back would spasm but a few days rest and physio usually did the trick. 5 years ago was a different story, I woke up one morning and couldn't bare weight on my legs, To make a long story short I have had over 20 different injections, nerve blocks, PRF etc and two surgeries on the right L5 three months ago and one on the Left L5 2 years ago. I have four bulging discs T10-11, L3-4, L4-5 and L5-S1, I have severe DDD (back of a 65 year old) The surgeries have helped improve my pain as like others I couldn't function and wanted my legs cut off. I find that even though my pain is less with those nerves I'm still very limited with what I can do- which is basically nothing otherwise the muscle spasms and I have to be so careful not to trigger pain with the other discs. I have very little strength despite trying to swim and build strength, My problem is I'm suffering now 5 years and I'm now 34 my husband and I would love a baby my surgeon feels it would be ok however the orthapaedic surgeon thinks I could end up worse. My husband and I have started the adoption process and will continue as we would like to offer a child a good life, I would just like to know of peoples experience with back problems before getting pregnant and especially those that have "complex" backs like my own and whether pregnancy affected them. I know there is no way I could lift a baby after 4months but have support from family who will hopefully help out, Would love to hear from anyone that has had similar experiences...
