One month ago I had a 3 level lumber fusion. L3-S1. I searched and searched for positive news regarding fusions, specifically multi-level fusions. Nearly every article I read said don't do a 3 level fusion.
I had my 4 week check-up this week and the Dr. is completely satisfied with the results. Even better, I'm thrilled with the results! My husband and I tried to avoid fusion for 5 years because the information out there says they rarely work! As a matter of fact, our insurance company refused to pay for the surgery because "it would not fix my problem." We had tried everything, including 2 microdiscectomies. We prayed a long time about it and decided we had to do it if there was any hope of getting my "life" back!
We borrowed the money from retirement accounts, family, loans and had the Surgery!
All the glory goes to God! He carried us through and I'm doing remarkable!
Again, I just wanted to share a POSITIVE story about fusions!
All my best,
2007 and 2010 L4-S1 Microdiscectomies; helped for a total of 3 years between the 2 of them.
10/03/2012....back reconstruction L3-S1...large titanium "seperators" were put at each level with synthetic bone graft material.
