Post surgery physiotherapy

Hi everyone,

It has now been 6 weeks since I have had my L4/L5 fusion and I was recenntly instructed by my surgeon to start physiotherapy.

Has anyone had physiotherapy after surgery? What sort of exercises or moves do they do during the physiotherapy session?

  • Hi. I had L4L5PLIF in Early September. The physio initially focused on making sure I was walking properly - eg standing straight after years of leaning forward and lifting my feet properly, strengthening my core stomach muscles, and lifting my legs to get good stretch In addition to gradual increase in walking. good luck
  • Hi.....
I had my PLIF 3 months ago on L5/S1.

The physio I did includes bending my knee, not waist (definitely). Because my knee is so stiff.
that is one of the exercises they did with me.
Walking properly is definitely one of the exercises.

I am still walking everyday. 3 times today @30 mins each. thats good!! but after physio, sometimes I feel uncomfortable or a bit painful. I was wondering if there is anything to do with physio.

    Any experience with this, anyone?
