L4-L5 & L5-S1 fusion.

Hi everyone! Just got word from my surgeon that insurance has denied our request for an ADR. They won't even approve a hybrid. So, we're going to go forward with a 2 level fusion on 1/2/13. I know lots of people on here have had this done, so I'm looking for advice in preparing for surgery, and what post-op recovery might be like. Thanks!

  • Good luck to yoU! I am in need of 3 level lumbar fusion per 2 docs and 2 other docs said i need to wait for symtoms to worsen..
I have had 3 close friends have 1 and 2 level lumbar fusions over the past 2 years and all 3 are very happy.. So from what I can say they were walking around a few days after and doing great 1 month after.. No totally pain free but much better!

The advice i remember is keep weight off if u are heavy and dont over do it after surgery.. A large % of people tend to overdo it after 6 months.. 1 year mark is the BIG MARK from what I was told, but all 3 friends where doing great at the 2 and 3 month mark..
