Well, it's official! Insurance finally got back to us re: the surgery, and I will be having a 2 level L4-L5/L5-S1 ALIF done on January 4th. Now I just get to meet with my ortho as well as the vascular surgeon who will be assisting. I must admit, since the surgery scheduler called this evening I'm starting to feel very nervous. I'm fairly well educated on the surgery itself, so I guess it's just fear of the unknown. Anyone else have this done and can tell me what to expect? (IE: How long is the surgery itself? How long were you in the hospital? What is recovery REALLY like?) I know I can search the forums for all this info, but I have a spirited 3 year old and limited laptop time, haha.
