I'm a tad new to this site and sick of dealing with the pain. I'm 55 & had surgery a couple years ago.. Fusion,,L4-L5-S1 and it didn't do much for the problem.. If I'd have known before the surgery what little relief it would provide I'd never have gone through with it.. Anyway,,,,,, I'm currently taking 32 mg of Exalgo daily & 15 mg oxycodone for break through pain... I go to a spine & pain clinic and the PA has tried different combinations of extended release meds,,,,,Oxycontin,,,,MScontin & the Exalgo I'm on now along with the oxycodone. I've been on the current meds for about a year and they're not doing the job anymore.. After the surgery I'm not wanting to do anything invasive I'm just wondering if anyone has gotten relief from a combination of meds that we haven't tried yet. Was on Fentnyl patches (75 micrograms) before the surgery and want no part of them.

  • Many are sorry they had surgery as myself as often some get worse not beter with complications of surgery ,
Its very complicated when nothing more can be done for the spine pain other then medications and injections,

Even high dose of pain medications dont seem to work with nerve related issues so its very hard and search out what helps and what dont, You realy get stuck coming up with your own natural remedy along with pain medications trying to keep it at the min, level to avoid having drug related issues and side affects,

Too often people think surgery is the answer and thats not always the case, I was in pain before my surgery but not even close to what i deal with now, I could manage my symptoms beter before surgery as laying down and lots of rest always helped, You just assume surgery will make you beter and some of us find out diferent but its too late to go back now,

Good luck, Hope you find something even if its heat and deep massage with creams which help releise the stiffness and helps the muscles losen up which helps bring the pain levels down to where pain meds help,
Flexicore ADR 2004 resulting nerve damage l4l5 Fusion 2006 same level, 2009 hardware removal with lami !
