I'm fairly new to this website. However. I've been thru so much this past year starting Dec. 2011 I had my first cervical fusion 2 levels. 4 months later. I was diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet. So then April 2012 I had my top rib removed. Long slow recovery. Few months later. 8-2012 L5-S1 disc ruptured I lost control of Bladder. I had micro discectomy a few days later. Aug. 8. 2012 Next day at home bladder wasn't working ER trip an home with a Foley catheter in my bladder.
The pain in my back an leg was worse than before surgery. MRI taken a couple days later to find out the disc has re ruptured worse than before surgery. At that time also due to worse neck pain X-ray was taken on my neck to find that my cervical 2 level fusion hadn't taken. So redo Sept 10 back surgery again. Then recovered 4 months. Then on Nov 7 2012 redo 2 level cervical fusion.
Now dealing with still lots of nerve pain etc. atrophy 1 1/2" in left leg. An 3/4" in my right arm my surgeon sent me to a pain Doctor. He started me on Nucynta ER 100 mg. it has helped some but he suggests than I have a dual lead Nerve Stimulator wondering what's others opinions on this. I know it means no more MRI's however I also have an Acoustic Neuroma which I have to have MRI's periodically to Check on growth of that. So what should I do?
Dr said at minimum it would get rid of 50% of my pain. I just need thoughts the good about it or even the worse that could happen or cause.
Thanks so much.
