Followup with CT scan??

I found out that my NS plans a followup with me in February between my 8 and 10 week postop mark. However this followup will be after a CT scan he plans to schedule of my cervical and thoracic. Isn't a CT scan normally used to look for problems? I thought that Xrays were used for checking for fusion. I could swear I read that a CT scan is used if the doctor is looking for more issues. Any input is appreciated.

  • My surgeon told me (before my surgeries) that I would have follow up CTs after my fusion because even though you can see the fusion starting on an x-ray, you can't get a clear picture of the total fusion without a CT. So it might be a true follow up. I can't imagine a reputable surgeon "looking for something" without discussing their concerns with you upfront. That sounds dishonest. Just my thoughts.
