My background re: my Lower Back problem. 6 Years ago now, diagnosed with degenerated disk disorder after MRI in L4/L5 disc After trying just about every alternative to surgery e.g- Acupuncture-No help, Epidural steroid injections-did nothing, Chiropractor-Helped at first a little then on 1 occasion my body had a very serious reaction to the manipulation, which caused my body to go into full body muscle spasm. My Chiropractor had only ever seen this happen twice before in his 25 years of experience,so that was the end of that. Physio-didn't help, Hot & cold treatments, very little relief. So was just left on pain management medication until it was decided that surgery was the option. My fist operation was called a Wallace Peg this worked very well at first but unfortunatly after 6 months it seemed to snap and after another MRI to investigate it,it was shown on the scan to have failed. So back on pain management medication.
It was then decided they would need to do a complete disk replacement on me and remove the Wallace peg at the same time. The Wallace Peg was removed by rear spinal access and the Disk replacement was put in through abdominal access. Rehab seem to go well after the operation and i was proberbly 80% better which i was very pleased about .That was for about 2 years. However over the last 18 months,i first started to feel some discomfort not to bad at first but has been esculating month by month to where i am today back in excrutiating pain and now have gone from co-codamol for the pain to Tramadol which takes the edge off but still not strong enough.I do also take other medication to also help.I had another MRI scan last week but the results for some reason didn't come out,i was always under the assumption that the disk implanted was not metal.I now just don't know,i did ask after the surgery and no mention was made of a metal disc replacement. So now having an X ray tomorrow, they want to see the disk replacement position.I guess to see if has moved. Result of Xray - position of disk replacement had not moved. 1/5/2013 Now due to see my spinal consultant to find out what he suggests is the next step forwards to actually identify my specific spinal problem. And that's where i'm up to.I am also waiting to see a pain management specialist to help with the extreme pain until they work out what to do next.Anyone know what is a stronger pain reliever than Tramadol so i could mention it to my GP/Spinal Specialist and Pain management specialist though he should obviously be the person who would know this.Any advice,recomendations/chat or forums that you could advise would be most appreciated,Thanks.
Don't know what you want from me hear, please let me know Thanks
