I'm in so much pain every day Iv tried pt didn't help Epidural steroid injection they didn't help either along with chiropractors. I'm on muscle relaxers, anti inflammatory, nerve meds and only 3 10's pain pills a day that don't help at all. Just went to nerve specialist for my lower back and now I have a pinched nerve somewhere down there too. I go to my pain dr tuesday so he is gonna send me for another MRI but Im gonna ask for an up right one for my lumbar and thoracic since I'm having more pain else where in my thoracic region. He says surgery is to risky for my thoracic but nothin is working I feel like a failure as a wife and mother can't even hold my son for longer than 2 min. I am sorry to hear of your pain. An mri would be wonderful. I work with a woman who was experiecing some of your symptoms, turns out she had a growth on her spinal cord. It was between her shoulder blades. She went to the mayo clinic and was diagnosed.
  • Thanks Cathy Iv had an MRI done 2 yrs ago and it didn't show anything like that hopefully this next one doesn't either that sounds horrible for the person u worked with.
  • Hi Sassy, Im sorry you are having so much pain. I had herniation at T7-8 that was pressing spinal cord severely. Pain was very intense and at first thought I was having heart attack. I had mid back pain and it radiated around the left rib cage into left side of chest. All heart tests including heart cath were normal but while lying flat on table not able to move for 3 hrs. after heart cath I started having severe pain in mid back. Primary did x-rays and sent me to my NS who did MRI and CT-scan and although thoracic surgery is more dangerous because they are rare, there are surgeons who specialize in thoracic surgeries. My NS sent me to one at Duke University and even though I had bone spurs and bone was caldified he said he could do the surgery and he was able to do microdiscectomy through the back and only have 2 inch scar.

I did have complications after surgery on May 24, 2012 and still have chronic pain since surgery. I have tried ESIs, RFA, pain meds and I go back to Duke at end of Feb. to talk about a SCS. Not everyone has problems like I did and in fact we have a couple who had thoracic surgery who are doing really well and hopefully you will meet them. I just wanted to let you know that there is always choices and even though thoracic can be scary there are surgeons out there who do nothing but thoracic surgeries.I hope all turns out well for you in your decisions. If you would like you can PM with questions.

    hugs,
    kelli
