Can I stop Prednisone after a few days if pain goes away?

I was given a 16 day supply {40 tabs} of Prednisone for acute lower back pain.
After the first dose, I felt 80% better.
Today I took dose 2.
If I completely feel better in a few more doses can I stop taking this?
Abruptly stop taking it.
No taper.
This is the first time I've ever had this drug...or ANY other than anti-biotics for the flu a few years ago.
I really don't want to take this if I can avoid it.

  • You might stop taking it and pain can return as fast as it left , I been on it and yes it helps inflammation,
You can stop taking it sure it's not like you been on it long term of years,

But if pain returns you will be back on it to finish it off anyways, It's your body if you seriously feel pain is now gone for good then yes you can just back off it ,

Heck send it to me if you don't need it as my flare is again out of control and ready to call dr to call me in the roids instead of going in again for another injection,

    Good luck,

  • Well today I've taken another dose, and I dont think it's working anymore.
The pain is back. I don't know what to do.
Is this the sort of medicine that needs to build up in the system?
The first day I took it the effects were AMAZING.
But that's not the case anymore.
Now I can barley stand for more than 3 min before the pain sets in....BAD.
Will this medicine start working again?
  • Only 1 way to find out, It's not always a cure, it's to fight inflammation, All you can do is finish it off and don't eat everything in the house as it makes many hungry and gain weight ,
