Hi, I'm a new member, any information/advice gratefully received

Hi I am new to the site and would appreciate any information on my situation. I have had lower back pain and pain running down back of left leg and into foot (heel) for about 18 months on and off. Pain has got worse over last 6 months (mainly nerve type pain with feeling like water running down calf inside occasionally). Previously had 2 ops on my left arm due to cubital tunnel so understand quite a bit about nerve entrapment. Some numbness, burning in heel also. Had MRI and was told mild disc degeneration and small annulus fissure at L4/L5. Been referred to pain clinic and having physio which does not ease at all. Been given amitryptlene taken at night but really want to find out how can be fixed rather than just masking pain. I am 44 years old and active and working full time but pain is so debilitating.

  • Have you been to an ortho or neuro-surgeon? I think that would be the next step. It sounds like it might be good to have them see if your issue is operable or not.
    4 level ACDF C4-C7 5-2-11, laminectomy & discectomy L4-L5 1/26/12, ALIF L4-5, L5-S1 12/10/12.
  • Hi KarenD, seeing GP again on Saturday so think will insist to see ortho or neuro as you suggested - do not want to have to take painkillers just to mask the pain. Thanks for your reply.
