Post Four Level PLIF

Hey everyone. Been a while since my last posts. Looking back all I remember was griping about the pain and the system to get fixed.

My original surgery date was November 29th. 2012

I ended up spending two months in the hospital and having 5 surgeries.
I spent almost a month of that in ICU fighting a infection.

Soon as the surgeon says it can come out I will have to have the hardware taken out so that I can get rid of all the infection.

I lost my job while in ICU around Christmas.

The positive is:
My pain level is so much better.
I no longer limp.

Oh and did I mention that my pain level is so much better!
I can think about and engage in other things that does not
have to do with my pain.

I don't know if you have posted since coming out of hospital, but anyway Welcome Back!

You have had a very rough ride and it is so encouraging to read that despite all your problems, you are still having far less pain and not limping.

There is a member who also had surgery on 29th November who is still in hospital with an infection which is being treated. I bet he would appreciate a message from you telling how much better you are now. It would give him great hope that he can get over this. He is posting on the November Surgery Buddies thread.

Great to hear that you have triumphed over this battle. :-)
  • What is the persons name you are talking about?

I'd be glad to send an encouraging message that it does get better.

Look forward to hearing back from you.
  • He is Dan,
but his online name is Pccstudent,
if you go towards the end of the thread, you will find several of his posts.
  • Post number 306 mentions the start of his infection I think.

  • Welcome home! You have been through so much, and have such a wonderful positive outlook. So glad to hear that you have decreased pain, and that you are walking without limping.
Hope everything goes smoothly for you, from here on out. When they remove your hardware, are they doing a revision and redoing the fusion once the infection is completely cleared?

    Positive thoughts heading your way.
