Met with doc this week. He said that they want to try a scs for my radiculopathy in my left arm that is refusing to get better despite surgery in May and everything else tried.
Checked with my insurance company (Cigna - they suck) and of course thet deny it! They state that for cervical level its considered experimental. I had United before and they approved all my spine care. Now Cigna, they happily deny everything. Even an MRI after my ACDF when the surgeon wanted to make sure Im healing properly (he was worried about my nerve still heing damaged after surgery and considered revision). We have appealed that one.
Cigna approves lumbar and thoracic. Cervical back surgery is less common than lumbar but it doesnt mean cervical spine patients have less nerve pain when we have permanent nerve damage. It hurts as much on a cervical level and my arm is to no use. So upset!
Anyone who has a scs for cervical region, upper extremities pain? Would love to hear your experience and if you had any problems getting it approved with your insurance company? Also, have you been able to cut back on meds after getting your scs? Are you more active as of it?
Any scs user, lumbar, thoracic, cervical - feel free to share your experience!
